Green paint colors are trending these days because they give modern,luxurious and calming feel at the same time. Sage and earthy greens in particular offer a “sweet spot between color and calm,” which makes rooms feel fresh.But a slight change in color undertone creates a huge difference in mood.
Without wasting your time,I will tell you about my favorite green colors that I used in my projects, as well as I observed in other people’s houses.

Best Green Paint Colors for Every Room
Liveable Green (SW 6176)
A soft warm green. Its undertones are yellow‑gray, giving it a cozy, “organic” vibe. With LRV 61 it’s fairly bright.
Sherwin-Williams notes it “creates an inviting, organic vibe” and it’s neutral enough for almost any room. Liveable Green works on walls, trim, cabinets or even exteriors. It pairs beautifully with warm whites (e.g. Alabaster, White Dove) or other greens/grays to form a harmonious palette.
North Woods (Behr N410-7)
A green-black (LRV ~8.1). It resembles deep pine forests. The depth feels protective and cocooning. North Woods is essentially a very dark forest green. I go beautifully with Alabaster I mean, use soft or bright colors ,cuz its darkest green, I guess in my list.To not make room dark ,use light colors.
It pairs well with light wood or cream accents for contrast.But not good for exteriors,cuz in stormy weather or cloudy days it looks darker. Most of people are using it on furniture pieces like cabinets, built-in wall shelves and dressers.
Dried Thyme (SW 6186)
A darker olive-green with cool, bluish undertones. Its LRV is 21, making it a dark mid-tone. It feels fresh, earthy. This “organic, outdoorsy” green is ideal for creating cozy, nature-inspired rooms. It’s excellent on accent walls, kitchen cabinets or islands, built‑ins, interior/exterior doors and shutters.
Use contrast colors like Urban Bronze ,Iron Ore .For light and bright palette use Shoji White ,Alabaster and Pure white.
Green Smoke (No. 47)
A deep blue-green by Farrow And Ball .Its moderately dark (likely mid-range). It’s often described as a smoky teal – blue-grey-green mix.
Undertones are blue, so it reads more teal in bright light and gray-green in shadow. Green Smoke feels dark if not pair with bright colors like Wevet or other famous bright paints.
It’s one of F&B’s timeless classics. It works on interior walls for a deep meditative feel, and also on exterior trim (like shutters or doors) because the blue undertone pops against white.
Salamander (2050‑10) by Benjamin Moore
A deep, inky teal-green (LRV ~5.72). It combines black, blue and green. Salamander’s undertone is very cool. It can look nearly black in low light but shows its blue-green richness in bright light. It feels moody, intense and modern.
Use it to add luxury: e.g. on kitchen cabinets or island, a bedroom accent wall, or a front door inside. Pair Salamander with warm neutrals (beige, cream) or for contrast I recommend to use it with Wheeling Neutral and Feiry Opal.
Jasper (SW 6216)
A very deep forest green. Its LRV is only 4, so it reflects little light and can look almost black in dim light.
Jasper’s undertone is a true neutral green (it can read slightly warm or bluish depending on light).
I suggest you to use on accent walls ,cabinets ,furnitures and doors only. It works well in both modern and traditional schemes as a statement, but usually on smaller areas or accent walls rather than full rooms.
It goes well with Rock Garden ,Sea Salt and Still Water cuz its dark ,so you should better use light shades.
Evergreens (SW 6447)
A deep, dark pine-green with an LRV of 8. It has a strong forest-like character. Sherwin describes it as saturated “with a quiet, deep forest feel.
Because it’s so dark, it’s best on accent walls.It looks more charming with soft neutrals and warm woods also if you wanna add some retro or pop effect use terracotta colors.
Hollingsworth Green (HC‑141)
A very light, minty sage. With an LRV ≈63.3 it reflects a lot of light. It’s described as a “feather-light green” that creates a relaxing oasis. It has a soft green hue (undercurrent of warm herbal notes).
Hollingsworth Green feels so airy – In my opinion its ideal for the livingroom if you pair with some other sage or olive sofas.. Use it on walls where you want a hint of color that stays light (or on kitchen walls, bathrooms, nurseries).
Use Sw Morning Fog on ceiling of trim to create the balance between warm and cool.
Clary Sage (SW 6178)
A medium sage-green with some yellow warmth. Its LRV is 41. Clary Sage’s undertones are balanced gray-green with a touch of yellow, so it can feel a bit warm but still soft. It’s one of Sherwin’s most popular greens because it’s easygoing and “works just about everywhere.” It feels so gentle to use on your cabinets and doors.
It’s great on walls, cabinets, trim, vanities or even exterior doors. Use it anywhere you want a calm, natural green that isn’t too bold. Indigo Batik and Softend Gray
Calke Green (No. 34)
A muted classic sage. No LRV given here, but it’s moderately deep. Undertones are warm earthy (like an old historic green). It feels traditional and heritage-rich.
Historically used in both walls and woodwork, it pairs beautifully with wood trim and neutral fabrics. It’s excellent for country-style rooms, kitchens or any space aiming for a venerable “old estate” atmosphere.
October Mist (1495)
A soft muted sage-green.The only word I can say about this paint is Waoow…! cuz I saw this color with my naked eyes in my friends home, that I told her to pair with monochrome brown or caramel coffee shades ,and it worked very well ,also I added some florals to complete the look.
At last not explaining much just choose this if you want some warmth in autumn.I choose to pair with brown shades you can go for its palette is is mostly like grayish. My recommendation was SW Latte and Klim Beige.
LRV ~46.5. It has warm gray undertones. October Mist feels gentle and versatile. It’s green enough to be obvious, yet the gray tames it.
It’s flexible – pair with warm whites, woods or even light blues and beiges for a natural palette.
Evergreen Fog (SW 9130)
If yourare thinking its similar to SW Evergreen ,not its not ,its totally different with medium olive-gray green tone. LRV is ~30. It has grayish olive undertones, giving it a modern, sophisticated look. Evergreen Fog is “deeper, grayish-olive” and was Sherwin’s Color of the Year 2022. It feels bold yet elegant and very versatile.
On walls or cabinets it feels rich and moody, and on trim or furniture it provides a subtle green and grayish accent. I actually love it on kitchen islands and cabinetry. Recommended colors with Evergreen fog are SW Mineral Gray ,Spatial White ,Rosemerry.
Vine Leaf (Behr N400-7)
A rich emerald garden green. LRV ~8.9. It has vibrant green undertones. It feels dignified and bold yet timeless. Vine Leaf works well for accent walls, or exterior trim/doors for a classic, elegant look. It adds depth without going fully black. Best paired with white trim or soft neutrals to let the green shine.
Sea Salt (SW 6204)
A light gray‑leaning green (sometimes called “green-gray” or light mint). Its LRV is about 63, making it one of the brightest greens here. Sea Salt feels airy and calm, evoking a coastal vibe.
It “brings the calm of ocean waves” to rooms. This versatile pale green is often used on walls or trim in living rooms, bedrooms and baths to brighten a space. Because of its light tone, it’s ideal for rooms with limited light – it bounces brightness around. It pairs nicely with whites, soft blues, and sand‑colored accents.
Breakfast Room Green (No. 81)
A warm olive-green. LRV ≈30. It has golden-yellow undertones, so it looks lively and friendly. F&B calls it the “most cheerful” of their greens – it holds vibrancy in bright light or candlelight. It feels sunny and inviting (hence its name).
Traditionally used in dining or breakfast rooms, it also suits kitchens or entryways. It warms up nicely with crisp white trim or natural wood floors. Use it on walls or woodwork where you want a warm, classic green.
Black Forest Green (HC‑187)
A very dark blackened green (LRV ~4.85). It’s basically a black with green depth. Its undertone is blackened (the green is very muted). Black Forest feels heavy, moody and luxurious.
Benjamin Moore calls it reassuring and intense. It’s perfect for a dramatic accent wall or a cozy library or study. It is not recommended for exterior use (too little light reflectance). Try it on an interior accent wall or on built‑in bookcases paired with crisp white trim or metallic accents for a rich, enveloping effect.
Essex Green (HC‑188)
Another nearly-black forest green (LRV ~5.64). Very deep and ivy-like, with historic-ivy undertones. Essex Green evokes the darkness of overgrown estates. It reads almost charcoal in dim light.
Its feel is regal and traditional. Use Essex Green on focal walls, trim or cabinetry in grand or traditional interiors (e.g. dining rooms, libraries). Because it’s so dark, it also works well as a trim/door color against lighter walls (for a dramatic contrast).
Forest Green (2047‑10)
A classic rich emerald-green (LRV ~7.6). It has a clear jewel-toned green feel (deep, grounding, sophisticated). Forest Green feels luxurious and earthy.
Common uses: formal dining rooms, paneling or powder rooms where you want an elegant dark color without turning fully black. It still has a hint of brightness compared to Black Forest/Essex. Use it on walls or cabinetry for a striking traditional look.
Card Room Green (No. 79)
A very dark forest green (reportedly LRV ~27). It’s named for Victorian libraries. The color is nearly black in depth. Card Room Green feels intensely masculine and enveloping.
I think You should use it in moody, formal spaces: panel a study, paint a cozy library or a snug lounge. It’s usually used on all walls to create a dramatic cocoon effect. Pair it with warm candlelight (brass fixtures, rich wood) to bring out its subtle green-gray tones.
Mizzle (No. 266)
A light gray-green. LRV ≈51. It blends blue-gray with green. Mizzle feels misty and calm (named after a light drizzle). Its undertones are cool grayish-green. It’s an excellent neutral background.
Use it in bedrooms, nurseries or any room where you want a quiet, gentle green. It reduces harsh contrasts. It works on walls or ceilings and pairs well with soft greige, blues or whites for a serene palette.
Current Mood (Clare Paint)
A jewel-toned teal-green (LRV 16). It has cool blue-green undertones. It’s described as “deep, moody, intense and alluring”. Current Mood feels very dramatic.
Use it sparingly as an accent – for example on a statement wall, kitchen cabinets or furniture – in modern spaces craving high drama. It works especially well with warm neutrals or metallics to balance its intensity.
Coordinating Color Palette
These greens generally pair best with neutral and muted tones. For example, Sherwin’s palettes pair Liveable Green with warm off-whites, beiges or grays. In practice, creamy whites (Alabaster, White Dove), warm grays (Revere Pewter), and natural wood tones complement these greens beautifully.
Lighter greens (Sea Salt, Mizzle, October Mist) work well as background colors with bold wood or navy accents. Darker greens (Jasper, Black Forest, Evergreens) harmonize with crisp whites or brass for contrast.
Analogous colors like soft blues or even gentle violet-gray can highlight a green’s undertone (e.g. a blue undertone shows against lavender-gray accents). In short, pick one of the above greens as the star, then use light neutrals and nature-inspired accent colors to create a cohesive scheme.
